Why?
Here’s why.
It’s a shame when otherwise appealing, economically healthy and culture-rich states ruin their image by not ensuring clean air for their citizens. I read about the permit for Dynegy earlier this year, and I know several advocacy groups fought hard against it. Coal-fired power plants are some of the worst polluters in this country, and the intense humidity here in the South doesn’t help matters because it traps soot.
And get this. Another dirty plant in the state that boasts AAFA’s 2007 Asthma Capital? Will at least partially supply power to Alabama and Florida, not just Georgia.
