FDA Wants More Info on Long-Acting Beta Agonists
You may remember the FDA’s been conducting a sort-of risk-benefit analysis of using Advair, Serevent, and Foradil in children. You can read more here and here if you have no idea what I’m talking about. Apparently, the FDA is now asking for more details and plans another advisory group to review the information later this year or early in the next one.
New Strep Vaccine?
Okay, so the biggest benefit of a vaccine against the Group A streptococcal bacteria would be the prevention of the more serious illnesses like rheumatic fever, but wow. A winter without strep throat? I can scarcely imagine it, and my kindergartener would be thrilled.

Strep is not our friend at this house. My youngest two are very susceptible, which causes me worry…
When I look back at my lung history, I was susceptible to pneumonia and other lung stuff. I wonder if that increased the odds of me getting asthma.
Such reasoning makes me wonder of multiple bouts of strep increases our kids odds of getting something more troubling such as rheumatic fever???
Wow. I had no idea one lung was bigger than the other. What a cool fact. And eliminating strep throat would be fantastic.
