Michael Savage is a moronic fool. The crap that comes out of his mouth is only slightly less offensive than the things Rush Limbaugh says, and both should be ignored because their opinions are so off-the-wall. It's sad that there are people out there who actually take what they say as the truth.

I guess it's easy to win an argument when you can just deny the data and statistics and make up your own "truth". I'm sure that if he ever met any of the clients my agency serves daily, he would simply deny there was a problem.... even though many of our folks are in their 50's and their parents are long gone. This kind of crap makes me angry because it hits the airwaves and you know there's people out there believing it. I wouldn't wish for anyone to have a developmentally disabled child. It's a devestating (and yet very rewarding) experience. The truth is, there are no sign posts pointing you toward services, no guidebooks to help you make decisions. It can be very isolating (much like having an asthmatic child I imagine) and it greives me to think that some air wave celebrity is using it for ratings points.
I can't even think about this anymore. Gad.

Nice, huh?

I was going to write my own rant about this moron, but then I realized A) Asthma Mom readers would probably have plenty to say on their own--esp. those of you dealing with both conditions and B) I'd be on here all freaking day if I got started.

I wonder, though, why he thinks his opinion trumps actual research as documented here at the American Lung Association and showing racial differences in high-quality healthcare.

And I thought we'd moved past the blame game that pinned autsim rates on frigid mothers---oh, wait. We have. He's not saying parents are to blame for autism. He's saying most autistic cases aren't even real, and that parents are to blame for these kids' "bad" behavior b/c that's what it is, instead.

I honestly don't know which attitude disgusts me more, and it makes me wonder if the man has ever personally known a child on the autism spectrum.

I'm sorry, but Michael Savage is an idiot. To be so uninformed about both autism and asthma. I'll just walk out to say goodbye to the landscaping crews this morning and tell them to cut the developmental disability act. No one's buying it anymore. Clearly Mr. Savage doesn't understand the financial impact of having a child with autism. There is no extra money, developmental therapy is incredibly expensive, you'll spend years fighting school districts as you advocate for services for your child, you'll have horrible decisions to make and you should plan on your child needing additional help long after you pass away. Idiot. Imbecile.
And that's not even the asthma rant I could do.
I'm SO angry!!!!
