Last night, I weighed my options.
I could sit in front of CNN, cocktail in hand, and wallow my way through story after story of this weak and wobbly economy as the For Sale sign sits forlorn and useless (at the moment, at least) on my front lawn. But then I thought about how I’m the [...]

(My front door, plus Halloween decorations. Oddly appropriate in this market, don’t you think?)
As if economy headlines and the probability of selling my house and getting to Denver anytime soon couldn’t get worse, Wachovia’s the latest victim of the financial crisis, no one likes the bailout bill, and although I admit I don’t actually know [...]

It’s Not Just the Indoor Pools, Apparently
You already know indoor pools aren’t the healthiest places you could take an asthma kid, right? Now, a new Belgian study shows high rates of asthma for kids who swim in outdoor pools, too, and the write-up says chlorine gas remains right next to the surface of the water [...]

I’ve mentioned a few times that this Asthma Mom is moving to Denver, but I haven’t really fleshed out the specifics here.
The situation:
I used to live in the Tampa Bay, FL area, where I spent one year working in development at a private school, five years as a stay-at-home mom to my two daughters, and [...]

Happy Birthday, World’s Oldest Man
File this one under “amazing” rather than “weird.” Tomoji Tanabe turned 113 last Thursday, and get this–says he wants to live for five more years. Why five? Since he wanted to live “for infinity” last year, maybe he’s getting tired now.
Tanabe is the oldest man but not the oldest person on [...]

It’s ironic, isn’t it, that as I write this post reminding you to A) get flu shots for your asthma kids or B) get one for yourself if you have asthma, I haven’t even called my girls’ pediatrician to schedule their flu shots yet?
(sigh)
One of these days, I will get it all together–probably right around [...]

Something new is in the works for the Asthma Mom blog.
While I’m not quite ready to divulge the details, I can tell you the changes won’t affect the content of the regular posts.
But here’s where you get to help an Asthma Mom out. I’d like your input before this new thing goes live in [...]

More Evidence of Asthma, Aspirin Link
Read this whole article, though, as the 10 year-old connection does not necessarily mean a cause/effect situation.
Too Much Folic Acid During Pregnancy Ups Babies’ Asthma Risk?
Anyone woman who’s been pregnant in the last 16 years knows the drill: get enough folic acid in your diet to prevent birth defects. That’s [...]

I’m probably one of very few Americans feeling positive this morning, despite ever-worsening economic news.
Despite an impending move to Colorado and the related, wearying attempt to sell or rent my house in a downturn.
Despite the total lack of help the housing bill provides for me and all the other homeowners who bought fairly [...]

All the breathing disorder fun you ever wanted:
Bronkie the Bronchiasaurus
Pros: The concept here is more creative and entertaining than you might think, as Bronkie’s quest involves finding the lost pieces of a giant wind machine to clean the city’s air. The screen even darkens if your character “breathes” in irritants like smoke, and you can [...]
