Goodbye, Beaches. Hello, Rockies.

Does this happen to you as much as it happens to me?

You form a sort of halfway schedule. Say, to update your blog at least a couple of times during the week you’re packing for your move to Colorado. You even start creating a couple of rough drafts in your head but never actually accomplish that near-schedule, not because you ran out of time but because your brain ran out of space to accommodate anything more, what with the cross-country move and two kids.

Yeah, this week has been like that.

As I’m writing this on Friday night, my house is mostly boxed up and sitting in the moving van. Beds are dismantled, mattresses on the floor await us tonight, and this move to the Rocky Mountain West finally feels real. Tomorrow, my brother and friends arrive to help load up some of the heavier items and take the trampoline apart.

And tomorrow’s my 33rd birthday. AG’s 10th birthday is Sunday. The day after that, we leave Florida for Colorado.

I can’t think of a better birthday present. This move has been a long time coming, and I’m more than ready to go.

We arrive in Colorado late Tuesday night, and I’ll be online again Wednesday. See you then.
