Snow Day

The Denver area’s under a blizzard warning from now until Friday morning, so the girls – to their great happiness – are home from school today. I woke up to that very light coating in the photo above, but fat, heavy flakes are supposed to start coming down soon.

Clearly, little work will get done in the Asthma Mom household today.

Instead, let me tell you about my favorite website (so far) for winter gear. No, they’re not paying me to write this. Just spreading the web discount love for any of you who, like this former Florida Asthma Mom, find yourselves moving to a wintry climate with a closet full of tank tops and sandals.

Should you find yourself on a budget and in need of snow boots, hiking shoes, and “real” winter jackets (read: not what we used in Florida), check out Sierra Trading Post. They’ve got all the big winter brands and, more importantly, they’re always running some kind of sale. I bought 3 pairs of Merrell hiking shoes – 2 kids’ pairs and 1 pair for me – for $60.00 total, and that included shipping.

Allie, my green blogger friend, also turned me onto Steep and Cheap.

Between the two, I actually may not freeze in the foot or so of snow predicted for this area.
