Asthma Mom Renovations

While this site may look no different than before, I’ve been rearranging lots of information behind the scenes. Mostly I’ve reorganized content, a superficial change that actually introduces a sitewide transformation. Namely, from tomorrow on, the writing here will move away from article format and into shorter post territory instead. During the first year and a half of Asthma Mom, I focused on creating static informational content to create a solid background for the kind of asthma site I’ve always wanted but never found – one that tracks asthma news and stories, health blog posts, air quality and allergen tools, and other commentary, all in one place.

To that end:

1. The blogroll was getting unwieldy, so I moved it off the sidebar and turned it into this permanent page, tabbed above the header.

2. Information about asthma, how it works, and how it’s treated are now permanent links to the left. As I weed through the archives and keep updating, I may add to the them in the next few weeks.

3. The newer, shorter posts (starting tomorrow) will focus on news and current events.

4. This will give me more time for my freelance projects that help pay the bills and free up some of my time for a soon to-be-announced side project.

4. Plus, there’s a wealth of good asthma-related information on the Internet, but not all of it is easy to find.

5. Also, shorter posting = more frequent posting throughout the day.

6. Except on Wednesdays. Starting next week, every Wednesday will be product review days, meaning one long post.

7. Which also means I’ve dissolved the regular Wednesday and Friday features, since I’ll be incorporating those links into the everyday, shorter posts from now on.

What do the changes mean for you?

If you blog and your posts are relevant to this site, you’ll hopefully notice more traffic coming your way. In fact, if you write something (or read something) you just don’t want me to miss, please feel free to email or DM me on Twitter. I subscribe to lots of site feeds and track several news and health sources, but like everyone else, I just don’t have time to read all the good stuff out there.

If you’re a regular reader, this site will help you weed through all the asthma information online and help you figure out what’s relevant to your own situation. Instead of just my voice, you’ll be able to find multiple points of view and commentary through this site, especially if you subscribe to the Asthma Mom feed.

Now it’s your turn to help me.

Please?

If you remember a specific post as particularly enlightening or helpful and you don’t see it in the learning links to the left, let me know in the comments or in an email.

See you tomorrow.
