Today during the H1N1 Influenza Preparedness Summit, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, among others, discussed plans for dealing with the swine flu this fall, should the pandemic become more severe in this country.
Some key points:
- A nationwide plan for H1N1 is in the works, but we should make our own personal preparations as well.
- The Department of Education is focused on continuity of learning, should schools close over health concerns.
- The Department of Health and Human Services will give $350 million worth of preparedness grants to state and local health services.
- The government will maintain Flu.gov as a clearinghouse for information on H1N1 and the seasonal flu.
- On Flu.gov, you can help participate in disseminating information about preparing for H1N1 yourself by entering the YouTube PSA contest.
