Are you in the Queens area? Feel like helping a graduate student out with an article?
Sure you do! Check it out, straight from my inbox to you:
Hi all- I’m a student at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and I work full time in promotion at NBC Universal in NYC, and I’m hoping some of you can help me out with an article I’m writing on for an online publication (website will be up at the end of the month).
I’m writing about the high rate of asthma in Astoria, Queens caused by the Con Ed power plant. I’m searching for a parent/child with asthma from that area, so if any of you are from this area or Queens, or know of anyone willing to speak to me, I’d really appreciate it. Please shoot me an email at melissakondak@gmail.com with any information.
Thank you so much!
Melissa
Happy weekend, all.

Hi I am a mom with 2 kids who have asthma and I have it too. I am terrified of sending my girls back to school this year because of the h1n1 threat. I am not sure what to do. I have thought about home schooling but I am not a teacher. My youngest now 8 was severly sick with influenza 2 years in a row during school time. She missed a total of 50 days combined, I do not want her to go through that again. Any advise??
Thanks
Another resource for Melissa is HARO – help a reporter out.com
It’s a free service for reporters and pr folks to connect media outlets with the appropriate expertise. HARO tends to focus on consumer issues, so Melissa may have luck with that.
Kudos to her for embarking on such an important story. Thank you for keeping asthma in the news!
