Tuesdays Are Your Turn – Duration of the H1N1 Cough

Several variations of this question have popped up all over the comments. Since we’ve all got different answers, let’s leave ‘em here, in one place:

After recovering from the swine flu, how long did you/your child keep coughing?

My answers:

For me, a non-asthmatic and without Tamiflu, it lasted around five days after recovery.

AG, who did take Tamiflu, hacked away for approximately 10 days post-flu. Plus – no surprises here – her cough was much deeper and more severe than mine.

Finally, the non-asthmatic Sidekick coughed for only 3-4 days after her other symptoms left, although the (suspected, unconfirmed) H1N1 flu itself probably affected her the worst. Like me, she didn’t go on Tamiflu.

How about you guys? Leave your swine flu cough experiences below.

I’d say my cough lasted a good 2 1/2 weeks, and only had flu symptoms for about 4 days. The 2 1/2 week cough is pretty standard for me after a flu or chest cold, but it was weird because it was June at the time!
