Counting Down a Decade of Asthma – No. 6, Carpe Everything

Part of the series A Decade of Asthma

In her almost 11 years on earth, some of the worst flares have made AG miss out on her share – and several other children’s – of holiday fun, friends’ birthday parties, and special events at school. As a result, I’ll never take good health for granted, and I’m trying to raise both my daughters to seize joy where they can find it and to live as full and rich lives as possible, only (for AG) plus inhaler.

Yes, the first for her was a birthday party at one of those places with all the inflatable jumping things and slides, etc. (pneumonia)…she was so SAD.

If anyone is here… please respond if you can… how do balance holidays with health? One of her triggers is cat and all the family members she wants to go see have them, but since she’s still recovering from her sinus surgery, I am hesitant to expose her nose and lungs to the allergen (she’s been off her nasonex due to the sx). Most of my family don’t get it, and just think I’m over-reacting/over-protective… how does anyone else deal with these types of situations?
