American Lung Association’s State of Tobacco Control 2009

The ALA released its tobacco control report for 2009 today. It evaluates both the federal government and individual states on policy measures and anti-smoking programs because, in the organization’s own words,

They have the potential to significantly reduce tobacco use in the United States, and save millions of lives from tobacco-related death and disease.

The report grades states on tobacco prevention and control spending, smokefree air, state cigarette excise tax, and cessation coverage.

Check it out to see where your state falls on the issues. My state, Colorado, earned an “A” in smokefree air, a “D” in tobacco tax, and an “F” in the other two categories.
