Thanks Amy for posting this! It sure is something to get people thinking about. What about other third world countries though? Is there any way to help people from other poor countries that haven’t been hit by a natural disaster?

That’s the part I can’t get past, either. Look how bad Hurricane Katrina was to New Orleans, and my country HAS solid infrastructure and widespread healthcare (despite its problems). When I think about how difficult and stressful the first half of my daughter’s life was, I can’t even imagine what it would be like to deal with something like asthma in a third world country.

Something else I’ve been thinking about is that the level of asthma care in Haiti prior to the quake, the number of people that were actually getting treated for it, was probably pretty horrifying in itself.

I really, really hope that now we can get some proper medication and equipment down there to help all the people who are surely suffering from aggravated asthma.

I’m not huge fan of texting, but I LOVE that people have made text donations possible. I was all over that in a minute.
