Asthma and Omega-3 Fatty Acids in Fish
Discover reports on research of fish oil benefits that go beyond the cardiovascular system, including positive effects on inflammatory disease, diabetes and even intelligence. Basically, our bodies turn one of the oils into a compound that,
prevents neutrophils (a type of white blood cell) from sticking to the walls of blood vessels and initiating an inflammation response.
Sounds good, right? Even better, one company’s already conducting trials on asthma inflammation.
Peanut Allergy = More Severe Asthma?
I feel like I’ve written about this before, but right now I’m too lazy to dig through the archives to find out.
HuffPo: No Conspiracy Theories! (Except Vaccine Ones. Those Are OK.)
Here’s Gawker calling out self-proclaimed “Internet newspaper,” the Huffington Post, on vaccine nonsense again, this time with a conspiracy theory/selective editing bent.
As for actual research on vaccines, read on:

I wonder if more people would get the regular seasonal flu shot if it was free. At least here in Western MA, the H1N1 vax was provided, free of charge to anyone who wanted it, but the regular seasonal flu shot was NOT provided free of charge. Of course, here in MA, most people have insurance that covers things like vaccinations, but that isn’t the case everywhere…and if you go to a vaccination place like the pharmacy…you have to pay…it was 25 each for my husband and I…(just because it was more convenient than getting an appointment, etc.) If it was offered by Public Health, free of charge…(through the schools, like H1N1, for children and teens) would more people get it? Perhaps this year, since H1N1 should be included in the seasonal shot, it will be offered, free of charge, to the public.
I love your Friday links…I look forward to them every week.
Anyone have info on a safe Fish Oil supplement? I know that very recently in California, many supplement manufacturers were taken to court (or some such action) due to dangerous other compounds in them…? I did get some recently, but now I’m afraid to give it to her. There is NO WAY i am going to manage to get her to eat fish (even though i eat it at least once a week and offer it to her)! I swear, she is the pickiest eater i have every known.
The Environmental Defense Fund has some good info on Fish Oil supplements:

(Thanks for bringing this up, Kelley)
I give my son flax seed oil rather than fish oil partly because of the taste and partly because of my concerns about cross contamination. (Supplements are not required to adhere to mandatory allergen labeling guidelines.)
And the parent who don’t want to vaccinate? Don’t get me started! My son went through an oral egg yolk challenge (he’s allergic to it, of course, but less than to the whites) just so I could make sure he was vaccinated against H1N1, which his asthma makes him especially vulnerable to AND prevents him from receiving the nasal mist version of the vaccine. Grrrr….
Great post. I’ve been looking for this exact info for a while now. I’ll bookmark it in the public bookmarking sites to get you more traffic.
My son, who has asthma and WAS NOT vaccinated, had H1N1. And you know what, he was just fine and so were the rest of us. The seasonal flu we had last year was worse. There are lots of natural things to combat allergies, asthma, and the flu. Elderberry, apple cider vinegar, cayenne, fish oil, vitamin C, and the list can go on and on. Let your body do what it was created to do and use the natural resources that God provided to help with it. Also, your diet plays alot in allergies. Too much yeast and sugar is not good, it just makes allergies worse. Read up on it. I was once like you, but my eyes were opened and I am so thankful for it.
Kari–No, thanks. I’ve already read plenty. And again, you’re welcome.
